An Amazon delivery driver in Florida was filmed allegedly refusing to deliver a wet package after the customer allegedly found her vehicle on the road and confronted her.
The viral video was posted on the social media platform TikTok, where it gained traction as users commented on the customer’s reaction. It also sparked a broader conversation about Amazon’s policy and what others have experienced when their packages arrive wet.
The above video was posted to TikTok and shows the interior of an Amazon delivery truck as a woman argues with the person recording concerning the condition of their package. “The person recording can be heard saying, “You have my package,” to which the driver responded with, “It’s soaking wet, man!“
According to the caption below the video, “So I asked her can I just see if you have this pack name at this address and take it because it was $60 and I know even if you say it’s wet it’s protected. Like I won’t even need to do a return. The Amazon driver didn’t want to give me my package because she said it’s Amazon policy, meanwhile I’m on the phone with customer care and they said the driver would have to report that it’s damaged first which she would not do. So I felt she was trying to steal the package she had a bin full of packages that bin is where my package was and idk if she just was going to take it or what but the police were no help.“
Allegedly, two packages were expected to be delivered, but only one arrived, while the other remained in the truck.
Despite the woman’s frustration, this is a policy that Amazon has to maintain high delivery quality. Even if the package inside was protected, there was no way for the driver to know that. After the driver’s route was finished, undelivered packages would likely be scanned and either redelivered or moved on to the next step in shipping.
Commenters even took to the comments to reiterate this, with one person writing, “It’s AMAZON policy! I work for amazon and if the package is damaged we need to return it back to the warehouse! You’re claiming she’s keeping the more expensive one? How the hell is she gonna know what’s inside the package?!?! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!“
Reactions to Florida Woman Accusing Amazon Driver of Stealing Wet Package
TikTok users took to the replies under the video to share their own opinions on the situation, with a many of them siding with the Amazon driver. To this, another commenter said, “She is following the policy . good for her but sometimes the customers don’t understand.”
According to the end of the video’s caption, “And I tried to process a return because this driver didn’t hit cancel or report the package was damaged on her end like customer service said she’s suppose to . And when Amazon said I needed to return on my money or my delivery asap I needed some answers. Because the cop was like nope she doesn’t have to give it to you if it’s their policy but I kept saying over and over before you arrived customer service said that’s not true. The customer reports damage and processes a return on their end. Amazon yall have some explaining to do 😤.”
This situation is going viral because of how the driver was spoken to and what she was accused of. As the video continues to gain popularity, the outcome of this conflict remains unknown.
