A Florida woman recently went on a healing journey after being diagnosed with OCD and intrusive thoughts. Her condition caused her to obsess over things and do things that are compulsive and impulsive in nature. During a breakdown, she sold her computer and soon deeply regretted it. So, in a series of videos, she goes back to the store she sold it to so that she can try and get her computer back.
TikToker @ocd.dumpie says she’s “ready to recover” on her OCD journey and wants to make right with some wrongs in her life. One of those wrongs was impulsively selling her computer during a breakdown, and now she wants it back. Due to her intrusive thoughts, she got rid of a ton of items that meant something to her. These included cars, clothing, photos, and more. In her video, she heads to the pawn shop where she thinks her computer is still located.
Over several videos, she explains that she’s going to “try to be as honest as possible” to hopefully get her computer back. In the fourth video, she finds that the shop still has her computer, but they are asking full retail price for it. She tells them about her mental health struggles and asks if she can buy it all back. At this point, she’s completely expecting to pay full retail price since it was “her fault” that it was sold.
However, after @ocd.dumpie shares her mental health journey story with the shop owner, she’s surprised by what they say. She’s honest and tells them she’s working on her mental health, and it was a mistake to sell the computer. In the end, the manager decides to sell the computer back to her for what they originally paid her when she brought it in! She says it was a good idea to be open and honest about what she was going through. The manager also gave her a “gold star” sticker for being honest and taking this big step in her life.
Commenters immediately flocked to her videos to show their support for what she’s going through. Many shared their own mental health struggles, taking the opportunity to be open about them as well. One commenter shared that they have bipolar disorder and stated, “It makes me buy everything because I can’t make my own good feelings or have too many feelings. I am proud of how aware you are.” Another commenter stated, “The gold star was the sweetest gesture.” One commenter added, “True human to human interactions are the best, so often it’s superficial/formal.”
They continue to comment and share their support with her on her mental health journey.
