A Florida woman says “Goodwill has officially lost their mind” after what she experienced at her local store. The popular thrift shop, which sells donated items, listed an Indian trunk for sale. But, when she saw the price, she was shocked by what she was reading and immediately turned to TikTok for answers.
Nickole (@madewithnikki) recently visited her local Florida Goodwill store. She went into the store and found a donated Indian trunk for a bedroom, and thought it was beautiful. But, when she looked at the price tag, she was astounded by the price. Now, she’s saying, “Goodwill, this is where you lose me,” as the price was way more than she expected the thrift store to be asking.
Nickole walks over to the trunk to show it to her TikTok audience, stating, “I love me a good trunk.” She shows off the wooden trunk, which has storage available inside it. Nickole went to check out the price tag and stopped in her tracks when she saw the trunk was listed for $249.99! Now, she’s asking her audience, “Are we serious? $250?!” She asks her TikTok audience for more information on the trunk and asks, “Is it worth that?”
Since posting, Nickole’s video blew up amongst those familiar with Goodwill and its prices. One commenter stated that they “found the trunk online” and said it was listed for “$350.” One commenter replied to this with, “They probably look it up and see the average of highest price and go that route.” Another added, “It’s actually criminal.”
Many others were irritated with the high prices they’ve been seeing at the donations-only thrift store. As one commenter mentioned, “Due to their outrageous prices, they should be audited. They need to show us how they use the money, especially since all of their funding comes from donations.” Another commenter added, “This is why I won’t donate to Goodwill.” Commenters continue to share their reactions and opinions toward the store on her post.
