Florida has seen its fair share of bizarre driving moments, but this SUV managed to get away from its owner without anyone behind the wheel. A viral video shows a woman helplessly walking alongside the slowly rolling vehicle as she repeatedly misses what viewers thought were perfect opportunities to jump back inside.
In the video, uploaded to X by the user @dammiedammie35, a woman with red-orange hair wearing a black t-shirt and white pants stands beside a red SUV-like vehicle. The driver’s door remains open as the apparently unoccupied SUV slowly rolls out of the parking area.
Rather than getting back behind the wheel before it begins moving, the woman is seen walking alongside the SUV and at one point appears to try slowing it with her hands. The vehicle continues rolling at a slow pace before gradually pulling ahead.
The car rolls away from the road and stops at the edge of the sidewalk on a grassy area. By the time it halts, the woman is left standing in the tall grass next to the car, having failed to get into the SUV before it escaped her control.
The video doesn’t show what caused the SUV to begin rolling, including whether it had been left in gear or whether another issue was involved.
Internet Reacts to Florida Woman’s Slow-Motion Car Chase
The runaway SUV quickly became a target for online mockery, with the reactions split between disbelief and amusement. One commenter wrote, “She had a whole week to save her car,” framing her reaction time as almost comically slow. Another made a similar point, arguing, “For every time the car slowed down, she did too. Not realizing that was her moment to act fast is unbelievable.”
One person offered a more dramatic theory entirely, writing, “This car is obviously fed up and is determined to self-destruct.”
The SUV eventually came to a stop without the slow-motion escape turning into something considerably worse. Viewers, however, couldn’t get over just how much time the woman appeared to have as the vehicle crept away. As one commenter put it, “She had a whole week to save her car.”
