Johnny Wactor, best known for his role as Brando Corbin on General Hospital has died at the age of 37. From January 2020 to September 2022, the actor played the mechanic whose romance with Sasha Gilmore made them a popular couple. In addition to the soap opera, he also appeared in Army Wives and Siberia. The actor’s mother Scarlett broke the news of his death to TMZ.
Johnny Wactor Killed During an Attempted Robbery
According to TMZ, Wactor was killed in the early morning hours on Saturday, May 25th. The actor was with a co-worker in downtown Los Angeles when they spotted three men trying to steal a converter from Johnny’s car.
The actor didn’t confront them or try to fight them, but the men shot him before fleeing the scene. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene around 3 a.m. Wactor was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police haven’t released any descriptions about the suspects, but an investigation is underway. The star’s mother said she “hopes they’ll be found quickly.”
Aside from his mother, Scarlett, Wactor is also survived by two younger brothers, Lance and Grant. Scarlett told the news outlet that her son was “a loving young man” and “his death leaves a huge hole in the family’s heart.”
On Sunday afternoon, as news spread of the actor’s death, his General Hospital co-stars expressed their condolences.

Sofia Mattsson, who played his onscreen wife, posted a series of Sasha and Brando photos on Instagram. In the caption she wrote, “My heart is so utterly broken…Johnny was the absolute best. So genuine. So caring. Incredibly hard working and humble. With a huge heart that spread so much kindness and joy.”
The soap opera community has lost another talented actor. Condolences go out to Wactor’s family and friends.
