In 2022, 23-year-old Sophia Rosing went viral after a video captured her physically and verbally assaulting 19-year-old Kylah Spring. At the time, Spring revealed she tried to check on Rosing, who seemed drunk and needed help. However, the treatment she got in return was quite unfortunate. The viral video of Sophia Rosing’s racial attack showed her violently kicking, punching, and biting Spring. To make matters worse, she used the N-word repeatedly on the victim. Spring also went into detail about what happened in a TikTok video.
“The girl starts saying things like, ‘Do my chores,’ ‘It’s not my fault that you’re black,’ ‘It’s not my fault that you’re ugly,’ and at this point, she’s like singing the N-word,” Spring noted.
The drunken tirade continued for a few minutes before the police came to the rescue. They placed the former University of Kentucky student in handcuffs before taking her into custody. However, Rosing regained her freedom the next day after a judge set her bond at $10,000. Following Sophia Rosing’s racial attack, the university permanently banned her from campus. In addition, the departmental store chain Dillard fired her from her job.
Two years later, the viral incident is trending again. Recently, reports revealed that Rosing pleaded guilty in Fayette County Circuit Court on Monday. The defendant pleaded guilty to four counts of fourth-degree assault, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of public intoxication. Rosing’s attorney, Fred Peters, shared that the guilty plea came after a mediation in which “a lot of things got said, apologies were made, and we worked it out.” He also noted that his client’s life was on hold for 18 to 20 months. In addition, Rosing had a lot of time to think about her actions and tender an apology letter. Following her guilty plea, the University of Kentucky student will reportedly face 12 months in jail, 100 hours of community service, and a $25 fine. Rosing’s sentencing will take place on October 17, 2024.
