Fortnite Chapter 3‘s inaugural season has recently wrapped up, with season 2 now in full swing. Along with the new challenges for players to complete and a brand-new Battle Pass to get through, one of the changes made this season is on the map of the Battle Royale title. One of the first things you will notice outside of the lack of building is found when opening up your map since there are now red and blue lines surrounding parts of the map. This is quite the change and can be confusing for players who don’t understand these new lines. This guide will explain the red and blue lines in Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 2.
Red And Blue Lines In Fortnite Explained
Season 2 of Fortnite Chapter 3 focuses on the escalating conflict between the Imagined Order (IO) and the Resistance, which ties directly into the map’s new red and blue lines. The lines surround areas that are controlled by either of the factions. Red lines mean the IO controls that area, while blue lines are areas controlled by the Resistance. Inside the Resistance zones, vehicles, weapons, and NPCs will be found. This is also where you will find the new Armored Battle Buses to cruise around the Fortnite Island in deadly style.

Inside the IO-controlled red line zones, you will come across patrolling IO Guards that will turn hostile to the player if they are detected, but there is a reason for the patrols. There is some great loot to be found in these red line areas, including things like the new IO Titan Tank. You can also find ziplines that bring you up to IO Blimps in the air above these zones, containing high-quality loot for those brave enough to travel up to the airborne behemoths.
As it is now, the IO controls a large portion of the map, but with the ever-changing nature of Fortnite, we may see these red and blue lines change as the season progresses.
Fortnite is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic Store.
