Undoubtedly, Forza Horizon is the series that made Forza that popular. Even though the player base is fascinated with Forza Horizon these days, the franchise worked on a few series, such as Forza Motorsport and Forza Street. The first Forza Horizon game’s debut in 2012 was a revolution for the series. The game continued its success with Forza Horizon 2 in 2014. Now, Forza Horizon 5 is one of the most well-known and celebrated racing games. There’s a big difference between those old titles and Forza Horizon 5, and there’s no reason except nostalgia to play them in 2023. Expectedly, Xbox cuts the support for Forza Horizon 1 and 2 online servers.
Forza Horizon 1 and 2 Servers Saying Goodbye
The expenditure of running online servers is a considerable and continuous investment. It requires technical support, active monitoring, and a cost even for a basic game. The time is running out, and the studios must focus on new titles. However, running servers for two games that are almost ten years old is extremely heavy to handle. There always has to be someone to make sure the servers are running and fix things when needed. Turn 10 did that for years, and now they’ve decided to end the multiplayer modes for the first two Forza Horizon games come this August.
They also don’t guarantee a stable experience on multiplayer anymore. August 22 is the last day you could be able to access multiplayer. The singleplayer mode remains playable, so there shouldn’t be a problem if you’re playing against AI. That also means you’ll keep your chance to taste some nostalgia whenever you want. But also keep in mind that other online features, such as leaderboards and online player activity, won’t be available. The game was initially available on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and it’s also playable on Xbox Series thanks to backward compatibility.
