For some people, there is nothing more fun than going out on vacation with your entire family. However, there are many children and families within the foster system that can’t really say the same. In Florida, one woman thought to change that by planning a Carnival Cruise vacation with her foster children. However, things took a turn when she was denied boarding with her boys, forcing only some of the family to get on, while she and a few others stayed behind. It’s a good thing that word gets around quickly on the internet.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @smallxfresh, which belongs to a woman named Amber Coplen. Her account is typically used to post about her family and their journey through the American foster care system. In this particular video, she pleads for help after Carnival Cruises denied her boarding for a vacation in Florida, despite her having confirmed everything she needed in advance.
According to her story, Amber had planned a trip with her foster children and family. The family was expected to travel together on a cruise by Carnival Cruise Line. However, because of the nature of her situation, not having many of the children she’s fostering’s personal documents, she called the company in advance to go over everything she needed..
Despite having done that, one of her boys was denied boarding, forcing her, her husband, and those who couldn’t board to leave their family to go on without them. Unfortunately, this also meant that they had no place to stay since they had been expecting to board the ship alongside everyone else.

At the very end of the video, Amber calls on anyone who is able to lend a helping hand to assist with the situation. One of the very first people to respond was actually the official Hilton account, offering their help and saying, “Hi Amber! We’d love to help with a stay! Sent you a DM! 🫶.” In fact, a few different brands jumped into the comments to offer their help in any way.
Amber ended up making a few update videos, thanking both Hilton and Fox Car Rentals in Florida for helping her with making hotel accommodations and getting a rental car, respectively. Tons of people were commending her hard work in the comments, with one person saying, “Your family is lucky to have a mom like you.” According to these updates, Carnival Cruise Lines itself has not responded or made any comments on the situation as a whole.
