When anyone requests an Uber, they expect that they will have a good ride without any problems. They also expect that if they wanted some quiet time, the driver would respect that. Well, this didn’t happen with a New York woman. She shared how she was left furious during a long Uber ride. According to her, the driver was playing deafening music and since the ride was from one state to another, it was going to take more than three hours. Of course, she has the right to request the driver lower the music, right? Despite asking nicely, the driver refused to turn down the music. It’s okay for her to play music, especially during a long ride, but this should only happen if she is playing it at a reasonable volume.
After the driver’s refusal, the New York woman couldn’t just spend the rest of the ride with a growing headache. She ended up asking her to drop her off at the next exit. It was a simple request, but the driver didn’t like that. She decided to pick up an interesting song choice which was one filled with vulgar words. “[Expletive] what’s up?” was repeated in the song several times. It wasn’t a coincidence that she would choose this specific song after the woman wanted to leave. The customer ended up reporting her, though, and instead of gaining around $200, the driver didn’t gain any money because of her behavior.
The customer also shared another video explaining why she reacted this way. She said that she didn’t have any problem with the driver playing some music. Her problem was how loud the music was. She also shared that she was wearing headphones with noise cancellation on and she could still hear it. So her reaction was definitely valid. The driver could have simply turned down the music and the whole situation would have been over.
People Reacting to the New York Woman’s Uncomfortable Uber Ride
Almost everyone who saw the New York woman’s video agreed with her. No one would want to spend over three hours listening to unreasonably loud music. Since the driver didn’t act professionally, one person wrote, “Report her.” The woman said that she did as she wrote, “Reported, money back, now she gonna lose her job over turning the music down sistah.” Some comments also mentioned how insane the song choice was. “A uber driver , basically playing Drill music without you requesting it ? …….. oh na,” one person said. Another person then wrote, “the song choice is absolutely crazy. We need to bring professionalism back smh.”
Not everyone agreed with the New York woman, though, as several comments defended the driver and told her to get her own car. This is why one person argued, “Yeah it’s her car, but she working? She has to be professional at work. I’m assuming if you had a job you aren’t going to be bumping loud [expletive] music disturbing other customers/ coworkers? Be mindful and be professional while on the clock. She did ask if she can lower it. Yall needa start using common sense.” Her behavior was definitely unprofessional, and it didn’t end well for her. The customer shared in a comment that Uber ended up suspending the driver because of how she acted. It’s unfortunate, especially since this could have been easily avoided.
