Donald Trump mixes politics with business once again with his latest MAGA-inspired business idea, promoting a new acoustic guitar worth thousands of dollars. The president-elect of the United States never shies away from profiting off his presidential campaign, notably coming up with the most unlikely merchandise embellished with his signature which his supporters eagerly splurge on at ridiculous prizes.
Throughout his presidential campaign, the Republican introduced products like his $59.99 “God Bless the USA Bible,” the Trump-branded sneakers unveiled at Sneakers Con, the $100,000 Trump Watch Collection, and his $100 silver coins. Additionally, he branched into the digital currency sphere, reportedly making between $100,000 and $1 million from his animated digital trading cards portraying him as America’s superhero, an astronaut, or a cowboy. While these ventures have earned Donald Trump the wrath of several Americans, he remains unfazed and has now doubled his efforts in the wake of his election win.
Trump Unveils Expensive Guitars in Latest Business Move
Donald Trump’s latest business venture saw him delve into guitar sales, expectedly overpriced and holding a certain appeal to the MAGA movement. The politician took to Truth Social on Wednesday to share a photo of himself holding an electric guitar emblazoned with an American flag and an eagle. The guitar also bore the president-elect’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, engraved on the neck. Additionally, the number 45 is visible on the headstock, a nod to Trump’s place as the 45th POTUS.
The page described the musical instrument as a “Limited Edition ’45’ Guitar.” The Trump Guitars come in both acoustic and electric models available at $1250 and $1500 respectively. Those personally signed by Trump go as high as $10,000 on the official website. According to Donald Trump’s post unveiling the new guitar series, only 1300 of each model are available on Gettrumpguitars.com.
Donald Trump Slammed for Selling Expensive Guitars After Winning 2024 Election
Despite folks already used to Donald Trump’s unconventional business tactics, his post-election win sales sent the internet into a frenzy. Many netizens took to Truth Social to criticize the president-elect’s repeated sales of “tacky” items, describing it as “petty” and “way beneath him.” One enraged user commented,
“This guy is the President-elect and he’s out here hocking shitty products like he’s stuck with the 3 AM shift at the Home shopping Network.”
Another fired,
“Trump is just going to keep selling shit while in office.”
Redditors also joined in on the criticism, slamming Donald Trump and any potential buyer of his overpriced guitar. Some went as far as alleging the president-to-be intentionally contrives such unconventional business ventures to facilitate money laundering once he assumes office. One Reddit user reacted,
“A fool and his money are soon parted. In the case of the average Trump voter, many times over.”
A second chipped in,
“AAhhh, fantastic. Another way for him to launder money. I expect Kid Rock and Ted Nugent to be sporting these, I imagine a despotic foreign government ordering hundreds or thousands of them to distribute to music fans.”
Another added,
“That’s a lot of money for a guitar that only plays ‘I’m Proud to Be an American.'”
Donald Trump is no stranger to backlash, more so, over his business and financial decisions leading up to his election win. Aside from launching expensive merchandise, the 78-year-old has earned public scrutiny for his involvement in the hush money trial, and for falsely claiming Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio were abducting and eating pets belonging to residents. His political appointments so far have also stirred mixed reactions. Yet, the Republican remains unfazed by the criticism, upholding his business-centric strategies ahead of his second term as president.
