Justice League’s New Logo, New Title, New Synopsis

Tuesday marked a big day for DC and Warner Brothers. They had a lot to reveal about the now-in-production, Justice League Part 1. While filming in London, director Zack Snyder allowed a few select people to get a look at the production. Even though it is unlikely that we will be seeing footage anytime soon, we do have our first look at the logo for Justice League Part 1.

This logo is more in line with the comics and even the animated TV series. For those who read the comics, it looks a lot like the comic book title. With DC trying to be more light, less dark, the logo takes the Justice League back to their roots.

The logo is also an indication of another bit of news: a title change. The Part 1 subtitle has been dropped, to favor a more simple title: Justice League. This is because the movie is being considered a standalone entry for the DC film slate. That isn’t to say that it won’t connect to the Justice League sequel, which is still in development. Alongside the logo and the title change came a synopsis of the film:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League Villain Confirmed, Dafoe’s Character Revealed

Last month it was rumored that the villain for Justice League was non-other than Steppenwolf. For those who don’t know, Steppenwolf is the uncle of the Justice League’s archenemy: Darkseid. He also happens to command the parademon army we saw in the knightmare sequence in Batman v Superman. Lex Luthor could also be seen talking to him in a deleted scene that has been released. Currently, it is unknown who will be playing Steppenwolf. We should expect casting announcement soon, possibly at comic con next month.

Fans shouldn’t get too discouraged if they still want to see Darkseid. He still might make a brief appearance, though DC might want to wait and surprise fans.

It was also revealed that William Dafoe will be playing the Atlantean Vulko. Nuduis Vulko is a mentor of sorts to Arther Curry, AKA Aquaman. Many thought Dafoe would be playing a villain, but that was not the case.

With less than a month to San Diego Comic Con, DC plans something big for their future slate of films. More casting announcements, possible plot details, and maybe even a teaser trailer can be shown. Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017. It stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, and Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman.

Are you excited?
