The trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 has officially hit and, with it, anticipation for what lies in store for DC’s famous Amazon.

For us mere mortals, we’ll have to wait until June 2020 to watch the movie. However, Diana herself, Gal Gadot, has already watched a director’s cut of the film – and she had quite the emotional reaction.

Speaking at a livestreamed panel recently, the 34-year-old actress said that “I forgot it was me and I was so invested even though I shot the whole movie and I read the script a million times, and we did it and filmed it for eight whole months.”

She then claimed to have called up director Patty Jenkins “crying” and that she “had an even bigger emotional reaction than the first one.”

Well, that’s quite the endorsement for Wonder Woman 1984. For many a fan of the first film, the death of Steve Trevor ranks among the film’s most tearjerking moments. Time will only tell how Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot, and co. manage to top that.

The livestream was altogether an informative session. Patty Jenkins went into why the ’80s was chosen as the time period for Wonder Woman 1984.

“Why 1984? We wanted to bring Diana into the modern world,” she said, “But the ’80s is a period that Wonder Woman is quite synonymous with. So it was great to see her there. But most importantly, it’s sort of the height of Western civilization and the success of the world that we all live in in the aftermath of now.”

She continued her talk of the Wonder Woman 1984 time period by saying she was “curious to collide” Diana “into the height of our modern belief system and what kind of villains come out of that.”
