Game of Thrones and Mountain Dew aren’t the most obvious pairing in human history.

Yet, the universe remains full of surprises. The two brands have cunningly joined forces in this limited edition promotional campaign where the traditional Mountain Dew can design has been replaced by something more Game-Of-Thronesy. No longer yellow and green, the can is a blank white.

But the clever thing is, this is only apparent when the can is warm. Leave your limited edition Game of Thrones can in the fridge for a while and text will appear on the can once it’s chilled.

These are names – and they include the likes of The Mountain, Melisandre and Polliver (whose name, like some others, are crossed out). But Game of Thrones fans will undoubtedly recognize these as the names on Arya Stark’s kill list from the series. How’s that for a merging of realities?

The limited edition is being promoted with the hashtag #ACanHasNoName and will no doubt prove an effective marketing tool for both Game of Thrones and Mountain Dew. This metaphorical scratching of backs is going to make a lot of money for these brands as anticipation for the series’ eighth and final season grows even more intense.

Regardless though, it’s somewhat humorous to think of Jon Snow drinking a can of GOT-themed Mountain Dew. In the Game of Thrones universe, they haven’t quite got around to making vending machines and canned soft drinks a reality. They should really get on that.

Game of Thrones

The first episode of the show’s eighth season is due to air 14th April 2019. It will be the shortest season of Game of Thrones, consisting of only six episodes. However, the length of each episode varies. The first and second are 54 and 58 minutes long respectively. Meanwhile, episode three is 82 minutes, episode four is 78 minutes while the last two are both 80 minutes. So, plenty of time to make up for it!

Are you going to indulge in some GOT-themed Mountain Dew? Are you looking forward to the eighth season? Let us know in the comments!
