HBO kicked off its announcements at the Television Critics Association with a bang. Game of Thrones Season 6 will be aired in April of 2016 with a number of other heavy-hitting shows.
After a scare back in October that the season may be delayed until May, HBO has now confirmed the next season will air at 9:00 pm, before the premieres of both Silicon Valley and Veep on April 24th.

With most (if not all) fans on the edge of their seats after the apparent death of Jon Snow, it will most likely come as a relief that the season will start sooner rather than later. Not much is known about the upcoming Game of Thrones season, but with the fairly high level of marketing featuring Kit Harington, many have speculated that Snow survived the onslaught at the end of season 5.
What we do know is that this news will make many fans sit even closer to the edge of their seats as the April 24 date approaches. Not to be shadowed too much by Game of Thrones, both Silicon Valley and Veep will be coming off of very successful and well-reviewed seasons that same night. Once again HBO has a full docket of great original programming coming in 2016.
Until then, get excited once again with the teaser for season 6:
