As you might have guessed from the title, Garfield Kart Furious Racing launches today, at least in Europe. For some reason, folks in North America have to wait until November 19th to play what will probably be game of the year.
There used to be a time when almost every character had a kart racing game thanks to the wonderful Mario Kart, I’m sure you’ve heard of it. After a while, the bubble burst and kart racing games dried up.
Recently, they’ve come into the spotlight a bit with various releases such as the great remake of Crash Team Racing and Team Sonic Racing amongst others.
Fans of those two games may be eager to try something new and Garfield could fill that gap. Here’s the official blurb about the game:
“Fans of racing, cats and lasagna: get ready!
Garfield, the world-famous cat, is back to take on Jon, Odie and their friends in this racing game where anything goes! Each of the available characters and karts (which can be customized with dozens of accessories) has its own characteristics and a unique driving style: make a strategic choice to match your play style so that you can cross the finish line in first place! Get off to the best start on the starting line and master tough skids to save time and win the race.
Crazy bonus items will be available too, including the pillow and the magic wand, to give you the edge over your competitors. And if you are as lazy as Garfield, take shortcuts and use the Spring to overtake everyone else!”
I do like racing, cats and lasagna, just maybe not in that order and while I was joking about it being GOTY Garfield does currently have pretty good scores on the Steam community page, even if some of them do seem a little sarcastic.
I’ve yet to play it myself, but I do at least like the character and I’m willing to give it a try. With Grand Prix, Single Race, online and Time Trial there are at least a few modes for players to get their teeth into.
Let us know in the comments if you’ve played it or even if you want to, and don’t be afraid to let us know your favorite Kart racer of all time.
Garfield Kart Furious Racing is out today (November 19th) for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
