Gearbox is best known for developing its flagship Borderlands series, which has gone down in many people’s hearts as one of their favorite series of all time. Hell, the first game I played several times in a row without stopping. The series is a thrill ride and, while Borderlands 3 wasn’t great story-wise, all of them have wonderful gameplay that feels fluid and exciting. With three DLCs for the latest title and Krieg’s return marking the fourth, Gearbox are ready to show off more. The team is hosting a digital showcase at PAX Online on September 12th at 12:45 PM PT, promising to show off more from Borderlands and their publishing partners.
What many might not be aware of is that Gearbox’s publishing partners include a lot of high-quality developers. Some of those upcoming developer’s games include the action RPG Tribes of Midgar, Dark Souls styled action RPG Godfall, and of course, Homeworld 3. As for what they’ve published already, you’re likely more than aware of their third-person roguelike Risk of Rain 2. There’s a huge list of titles they’ve had a publishing hand in, and you can find the full list here. Expect some news from their partner’s upcoming games at the show.
Of course though, many will be tuning in for news surrounding the Borderlands series and what’s next for it. You can likely expect a tidbit regarding Gearbox’s latest DLC Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck. There have been rumors though of a remaster of Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale Games’ take on Gearbox’s Borderlands world. I’m particularly excited for that, especially considering potentially more information on where Fiona is off too.
All we can do right now is speculate though, as we don’t know what’s at the show. As such, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this news. Will you be tuning into the Gearbox Digital Showcase?
