Genshin Impact: All Traveler Forms Ranked From Worst to Best

Make your decision.

Genshin Impact’s main character, widely known as the Traveler, has the unique ability to shift to different elements instead of staying as just one. When changing their element, they receive an entirely new kit with distinct functions and utilities. However, not all forms are made the same. Some forms are less practical than others, with some being downright bad. If you’re a Traveler fan and want to incorporate them into your Genshin Impact team, you’ll want to pick the best form out there. Here are all the Traveler forms ranked from worst to best.

Which Traveler Element Is the Best? Explained

One thing to consider is that they will rarely be the main DPS character of your team. Most of these forms do poor damage and exist just to support your other team members. Currently, five out of seven forms for the main character have been released. We’ll update this article as more forms are added.

5: Hydro Traveler Is One of the Worst Genshin Impact Characters

The Hydro Traveler is not only the worst element for the character in Genshin Impact but also one of the worst units, period. They have extremely low damage and possibly the worst Elemental Burst in the game, which summons a large bubble that damages enemies in its path. However, this bubble moves at a dreadfully slow pace, so it’ll likely just tickle the target rather than deal massive damage.

Their Elemental Skill is also lackluster, as it forces the Traveler to remain still while essentially shooting tiny water droplets from their hand. Hydro Traveler might be viable in a Vaporize team since they can generate the same Hydro orbs that Neuvillette uses for his Charged Attack. Still, this is a niche utility to consider if you’re lacking support characters for Neuvillette.

4: Electro Traveler Is a Weak Energy Recharge Support in Genshin Impact

The Electro Traveler is a support dedicated to providing Energy Recharge to your allies, so you could theoretically pair them with characters with high burst costs. They can also reduce the Electro RES of enemies by 15%. However, their high cooldowns and high-cost burst mean they’ll need heavy investment before they can consistently utilize their kit to a satisfactory degree.

The Electro Traveler also has inferior damage output, so don’t expect to see ideal damage numbers compared to others of similar utility. You’re better off equipping your supports with energy-generating weapons, such as the Favonius weapon series, instead of using this Traveler variant.

3: Anemo Traveler is a Decent Plan B

The Anemo Traveler shares similar disadvantages with the Hydro Traveler but is generally better since Anemo is a better support element. They lack decent DPS and possess a similar burst to the Hydro Traveler, but there are some benefits. Both the Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst of the Anemo Traveler have limited grouping capabilities, which can help dish out AoE damage to kill enemies faster.

Additionally, the Anemo Traveler can equip the Viridescent Venerer, one of the best Artifact sets in the game. The Viridescent Venerer is highly regarded for its ability to reduce enemy elemental resistances, so you can essentially use the Anemo Traveler as a “discount Sucrose or Kazuha” if you do not have those two.

2: Geo Traveler Has One Niche, But Performs it Quite Well

The Geo Traveler is, at their best, a very niche character. This character can output some respectable damage, but Geo is the most controversial element in the game due to its lack of ideal elemental reactions. Still, the Geo Traveler can be used as a solid quick-swap DPS character, as they can output some high raw numbers. Still, you might have some issues tackling endgame content.

Primarily, the Geo Traveler is used as a support character in other Geo teams due to his ability to provide a 10% Crit Rate buff for the rest of the team. They can also produce plenty of Energy Particles for other Geo characters, making them a great battery for Arataki Itto or Noelle.

1: Dendro Traveler is Easily the Best One

Dendro Traveler is by far the best form for Genshin‘s MC and easily the best free-to-play Dendro unit available. This Traveler variant has great Dendro application and pretty high damage when you do the proper elemental reactions.

The only disadvantage is the high Elemental Burst cost, which can be subsided with the proper teammates and good artifact stats. While any form of the Traveler is usable in high-level content with the right investment, you’ll have the easiest success when using the Dendro Traveler on your team.
