One of the most consistent features that players have to deal with in Genshin Impact is the bosses. To obtain precious Character Ascension Materials, players need to fight and defeat various bosses. With the release of Genshin Impact 4.0 and Fontaine, new bosses have been released. While these bosses often follow a similar pattern, surprisingly, the Fontaine bosses are unique in design and mechanics. Overall, these bosses are some of the best additions to Genshin Impact in recent memory. Here are some reasons as to how Genshin Impact’s Fontaine bosses compare to previous regions.
What are Fontaine’s New Bosses?
Genshin Impact Version 4.0, alongside the new region, adds two new bosses. These bosses are called Icewind Suite and Emperor of Fire and Iron. The former boss is an extremely unique example of boss fights in Genshin Impact since it provides two different encounters wrapped up in one area. In this fight, players will need to take on two dancing Clockwork Mekas, in a dance-like spectacle. The latter of the boss fights, on the other hand, while a bit more standard, still provides a very interesting ordeal. Compared to Genshin Impact’s other bosses, this Fontaine boss is a giant crab-like enemy hidden under the lake.
Fontaine’s Icewind Suite Design Shines Compared to Other Genshin Bosses
Starting with the Icewind Suite, this new boss is one of the greatest additions in recent memory. During the boss fight, Icewind Suite has some of the best aesthetics and animations that Genshin Impact has to offer. The fight is more of a performance, with spotlights shining across the battlefield and the Clockwork Mekas fighting with the power of dance.
More often than not, Genshin Impact boss fights don’t put this level of effort into the surrounding atmosphere of a boss fight. The encounter itself also makes for a great experience, especially when the lead dancer takes center stage. After this happens, the lead will launch a brutal attack for players to avoid, making for a hectic, yet fun, experience. In the end, compared to other Genshin bosses, Fontaine’s Icewind Suite is one of the best by far.
Fontaine’s Emperor of Fire and Iron is Visually Unique Compared to Other Bosses
A far more standard boss, the Emperor of Fire and Iron is hidden beneath the waves of Fontaine’s lake. Mechanically, the boss fight is very standard and nothing too outside of the ordinary. Players have the option to attack the boss itself or chip away at its Pyro horns. The latter of these two may prove difficult, however, due to their position on top of the boss. Luckily, occasionally the boss will lower his horns, providing a great opportunity to strike. Breaking these horns will stun the boss allowing for massive damage. Although mechanics like these are nothing new, the boss fight is carried by its massive lava-based attacks. These large explosions can engulf the entire battlefield in fiery chaos.
In the end, though there are only two bosses so far, compared to other regions, Genshin Impact’s Fontaine is off to a great start. With interesting designs, unique mechanics, and beautiful aesthetics, these encounters should make for a wonderful grind. In future patches, hopefully, Genshin Impact will keep up this trend.
