Although they are made by the same company, Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact have diverged in many aspects. Mainly, due to it releasing after Genshin, Star Rail has used its status as the newest HoYoverse property to update and fix any problems they have had with previous games. Due to this, older HoYoverse properties have needed to play a bit of catch up to stay on track with the progress Star Rail is making. While this usually refers to quality-of-life improvements, smaller features added in Honkai Star Rail add so much life to the game and should definitely be added to Genshin Impact.
Honkai Star Rail Adds Party Dialogue
Recently, as of Version 1.5, Honkai Star Rail has added a tiny detail that, overall, plays a big part in further developing characters. Now, when adding certain party members to certain party compositions, characters will have a special voice line based on which characters are in the party. For example, if Kafka joins a party with a character in the Express Crew, like Himeko, she will say, “Oh, the Express Crew. Looks like we’ll be joining forces quite often, huh?”
Tiny character moments like these add so much to the worldbuilding and design of Star Rail. A feature like this would make Genshin Impact even stronger, especially with its large cast of playable characters.
A player on Reddit emphasizes this point by providing a list of potential voice lines that some Genshin characters would have if HoYoverse added this feature in a future update. This includes voice lines between Lisa and the Traveler, Shinobu and Itto, Gorou and Kokomi, Zhongli and Hu Tao, Dehya and Candace, as well as Amber and Eula.
Having an extra voice line interaction between connected characters is a great way to remind players of the relationships and bonds that the playable roster has, even if they aren’t relevant to the current story. This will not only further develop the player’s favorite characters, but give them a relevant story even outside of the spotlight. Despite this, sadly, it may be a bit too late to add a feature like this to Genshin Impact three years down the line.
Genshin Impact Could Steal This Honkai Star Rail Feature
With well over 70 playable characters in the roster currently, developing so many voice lines may be too big of an undertaking. With so many connections between interconnected characters, especially those that share a region, this could easily amount to 100s of voice lines that HoYoverse would need to record. For a game like Honkai Star Rail, which is still in the early stages of its runtime, this is a much more manageable task.
In the end, while this may be something that could make Genshin Impact a stronger, character-driven experience, it may not be feasible at this point. Overall, however, something like this would help Genshin feel just as full of life as Star Rail.
While it may seem like an insignificant detail, players latch on to things like this. Though it’s ultimately HoYoverse’s decision on what to add to Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, a feature like this would be one of the best things Genshin could steal.
