The PS4 was the first console that allowed players to venture into Teyvat, but like any new character banner, all things must come to an end. HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact won’t be playable on PS4 anymore. The game will get de-listed from the PS Store soon, only for PS4 users, and its updates will cease for this specific platform next year. While Genshin Impact is available now on almost every platform, except for the Switch, which is still in the works — or so we hope — it is sad to see that the first console that housed the Traveler and their companions is nearing the end of its lifespan.
Genshin Impact Will Cease to Work on PS4 in 2026
According to the official HoYolab article, which you can read here, Genshin Impact will stop working on April 8, 2026. After that date, PS4 players won’t be able to log into the game anymore. However, changes will come gradually for the game this year. On September 10, 2025, players won’t be able to find Genshin Impact on the PS Store. Yet, if you download it before this date, you’ll still be able to play, at least until the abovementioned date. Furthermore, all in-game purchases will be delisted on February 25, 2026, for PS4 users.
HoYoverse mentions that the end of service on PS4 is due to “hardware performance and platform application size.” While shocking, it makes sense, as Genshin Impact has grown considerably since its first updates. Right now, it boasts six regions with a seventh one on its way. Even if the PS4 was a powerful console at the time, it might not be able to handle everything in this open world. Fortunately, Travelers will have many options to continue their journeys across Teyvat, especially since Genshin Impact is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, mobile devices, and PC. Also, in case it isn’t clear to some, the end of service is only for PS4 users. Those with a PS5 will be able to continue playing the game without issue.
System Requirements Increase Ahead of ‘Song of the Welkin Moon’ Version
Besides the end of support for PS4, HoYoverse has also announced that it will increase its system requirements for Genshin Impact once the “Song of the Welkin Moon” version arrives. You can read the article here, but if you prefer a TL;DR, here are the new minimum and recommended specs:

Beyond that, the only two consoles that will be able to run Genshin Impact will be the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S. So, as you can see, there are still many platforms that will let you experience Genshin Impact, and the new system requirements aren’t that bad. Still, if you’re a PS4 player, you’ll have to search for a new way to continue with the Traveler’s journey across Teyvat.
