Another day, another ICE raid, but apparently, this time, the ICE raid was done under “noble causes. Because the woman from Georgia who called ICE on over 450 illegal South Korean workers swears that they were modern-day slaves anyway and that, in the long run, she might be doing them a favor. The woman’s stance and justification have since led many people to question her decisions. Here’s her explanation:
The video was uploaded by user @toribranum or Tori Branum (who happens to be a Republican Congress candidate), and she credits the early September ICE raid on the Savannah Hyundai-LG Plant to herself. Branum provided the information to ICE and reported the workers in Georgia. The ICE raid was more or less successful, and 475 supposedly illegal South Korean workers were apprehended. Branum, however, added that this deportation report was different and possibly “one of the good ones” for a reason.
“Let me explain to you. Those people are working for slave wages. Some are not getting paid, some are being trafficked. They send money home to their country… They have hardly anything left… Have no quality of life– modern-slavery… Politicians have really screwed these people… The Biden administration has started a humanitarian crisis.
You can’t just look at it like ‘they’re ripping good people off the job,’ they’re probably saving their lives in the long run,” claims Tori Branum on why she called ICE
It appears Branum also wholeheartedly blames the Biden administration for the 450+ illegal workers and their poor living conditions. Meanwhile, South Korea has filed a complaint to the US Department of Homeland Security demanding that the rights of its investors and citizens be respected, as this appears to be one of ICE’s largest-scale raids to date.
It’s worth noting that President Trump’s mandate and goal for ICE deportations– according to him, is to deport “the worst of the worst” criminals on US soil. With that said, those detained by ICE in the Hyundai-LG Battery Plant were merely construction workers, who, according to Tori Branum above, were working hard to provide for their families back at home.
People Online are Condemning the TikTok User
As expected, Tori Branum’s viewers and commenters couldn’t believe what they just heard and what she just did. Most of the comments and the highly-liked ones point to how Branum basically further victimized the victims since she was fully aware that it was the politicians at fault. Some also shook their heads in disapproval because the TikTok user basically tried to paint ICE as a humanitarian agency.
“So you reported the workers and not the companies!!!๐,” reasoned out one TikTok commenter
“why is it your business did they ask u for help๐”
“Wow…I’m curious how you sleep at night?”
“they weren’t illegal they had work visa” argues another
“Did you think of the international repercussions of this? What happens when South Korea pulls all their plants and moves to another country? How many Americans did you put out of work to prove the point your a Trump pick me?”
Other threads weren’t so euphemistic about their arguments and proceeded to brand the Georgia TikTok user as a Karen. Some even called her a “KKKaren,” accusing her of being xenophobic or racist while also proudly flaunting her privilege. In any case, sympathies have certainly eluded Tori Braun for her decision to report disrupt and possibly ruin the lives of more than 450 people.
“Jesus. Christ. What a disgusting human being,” according to a Reddit user
“Lol, not buying it. Start reporting all the farms in Georgia then. F*** ICE and f*** KKKaren here.”
