While it is already tough enough for parents to make sure their kids are treated fairly in school, one mom in Georgia says she faced a situation no family should ever have to deal with. The woman went on TikTok to share her frustration after learning that a teacher at the Goddard School of Roswell allegedly made a remark that dismissed her son’s achievements. Her son is both Black and autistic, and she said the comment made her question how such children are being treated in the classroom.
According to the mom, she sent a message to her son’s teachers praising his progress. She said he was performing at the top of his class, testing at a first-grade level even though he was still in kindergarten. Instead of celebrating that, she claimed a teacher named Karen questioned how he could be doing so well. After looking up the logo on his school uniform, the teacher allegedly remarked that the school had “all minority children,” suggesting that his success was less meaningful because of that.
The mom said she was shocked by the statement and upset that an educator would question her son’s abilities because of race or disability. She explained that teachers should support every child, regardless of background, and added that Karen should be removed from the classroom. She also alleged that the same teacher mistreated another autistic child in her current class by embarrassing him in front of classmates when he made mistakes.
“What are you saying about minorities exactly, Karen?” the mother asked in her video. She called the remark unacceptable and urged viewers to hold the school accountable, saying the teacher should be fired.
What People Are Saying About the Georgia Mom’s Video
The TikTok drew strong reactions from viewers, with one person writing, “Sis I’m boiling… that’s just sickening. The fact she has direct access to our minority children and those on the spectrum & this is how she really feels about them is enraging.” A second asked, “Like how do you turn something positive, negative,” while a third remarked, “This is ridiculous!!”
A few people also urged the mom to take action. “You need to go to the school board asap and reach out to your local news stations,” one comment advised. Some viewers were even ready to take action on her behalf. Someone said, “how dare she!!! I just wanna have a conversation sis!!” Another netizen added, “yooooooo that’s not cool sis. Make me ride to Georgia for my nephew 💯💯.”
