A Georgia woman says her life was turned upside down after picking up her beloved dog from a pet resort and discovering she could no longer walk. Now, as she searches for answers about what happened, she is also fighting to help her dog regain the ability to use her legs.
The clip was shared online by Annika Gordon. Her content normally revolves around hair and nails, but she has various videos featuring her 5-year-old Yorkie named Cynthia. The dog is, unfortunately, the main focus of the clip attached above, which, given its nature, became viral. It has garnered six million views, 770,100 likes, and more than 11,500 comments.
The Georgia woman is seen crying on camera while holding Cynthia. She explained that she had brought her to Pet Paradise, a pet resort that offers boarding services, day camps, grooming, training, and pet day care. However, according to her, the pet resort experience became a living nightmare.
“My dog’s legs are not working,” Annika said while putting Cynthia on the ground.
Heartbreaking Details
She detailed that she had brought Cynthia back to Pet Paradise after she noticed she wasn’t standing up. In a GoFundMe set up to raise funds for her dog’s care, she even alleged that the facility didn’t help her, and instead were rude to her and refused to apologize.
Annika then placed Cynthia on the ground. She couldn’t stand and lay down on the cold floor. This was further emphasized in a follow-up clip, in which she showed how Cynthia couldn’t use her back legs at all. The woman, meanwhile, bawled her eyes out, desperate to find a solution.
“She won’t even stand up,” she said, while fighting back tears.
As per the fundraiser, Cynthia received urgent care at an emergency vet. She now requires further treatment, but, fortunately, she can walk again. In a recent update, she detailed that Cynthia might have suffered a split disc and is currently on steroids and pain relievers.
Furthermore, she said that Pet Paradise even made a video themselves, although it appears to have been deleted.
Outrage
Some viewers were shocked, but not entirely surprised. One viewer said, “I used to work at Pet Paradise. Will never recommend them to anyone. Ever.” Another one commented, “I think Pet Paradise needs to close down.”
Others, meanwhile, had issues with the Georgia woman sharing the story online. One person wrote, “Why do we first record instead of calling the law?” Another one added, “What is with people in crisis and 1st reporting to social media? This is weird.”
While Cynthia is recovering, it appears that Annika is looking into getting an attorney to pursue legal action.
