A man was left stranded for hours at a Pennsylvania airport after, he said, the plane ran out of fuel. The flight crew then timed out, leaving him waiting to return home in a string of events that were as confusing as infuriating.

Tyler Jackowski, also known online as fishin4clout, shared the awkward moment at the Pennsylvania airport. He is a popular content creator who often shares viral trends and clips of his podcast. The clip attached above became one of his biggest ever, garnering 7 million views, 851,100 likes, and more than 20,000 comments.

A clearly annoyed Tyler began recording at the Philadelphia International Airport. According to him, he was left stranded by American Airlines (AA) after he left Dallas for New York, his home state. Apparently, they were informed just 30 minutes out from landing that the plane was “running out of fuel.”

“So we land, we go over to the little holding space, and we’re waiting for fuel. It took 45 minutes for the fuel to get started. No announcements whatsoever,” he said.

Initially, it seemed that they would resume their New York flight shortly. However, the flight crew timed out, and the plane moved to a gate. Then, passengers were informed that a new pilot was flying in from Chicago and was going to fly them to their destination. He never came.

Stranded

Tyler figured he would be better off just taking a train from Pennsylvania to New York. After all, it would only take an hour. However, he was told that he wasn’t to leave the plane. Still, another announcement was made, telling passengers that they could deplane, but any checked bags would remain on the plane.

Many passengers, who were only carrying carry-ons, began leaving the plane, not before the flight crew started writing their names. Tyler stayed put, as he had a checked bag. Moments later, all passengers were told to deplane regardless of their baggage situation.

Tyler ended up waiting for a new pilot and crew to return home. At one point, passengers were told that new flight attendants were assigned. However, the airline didn’t know where they were.

A distraught Tyler wrote, “American Airlines, what did I do to deserve this?“

Reactions

The unfortunate situation sparked multiple responses, mainly from viewers who had a lot to say about AA. One said, “They are way too comfortable holding y’all hostage.” Another one commented, “Why has flying turned into such an inconvenience now?“

Others took issue with the plane’s fuel, with one writing, “How in the world does a domestic flight just run out of fuel?” Others pointed out how the AA reacted to the backlash, with one saying, “American Airlines turned off their comments.”

In a follow-up clip, Tyler contacted AA and advocated for his fellow passengers, telling the airline to compensate everyone inconvenienced by the delay.
