Ever since the current President took office, many people have regretted the decisions that led to Trump’s presidency. Some have silently shifted their ideals, while a few others have shared how they became supporters of the POTUS, either by their own conviction or by being forced into MAGA. Recently, a woman from Georgia shared how she was indoctrinated into MAGA when she was young, and how much she struggled to break free from what many in the country are calling a cult.
This Georgia woman, who goes by the name of kattdis on TikTok, shared her story of how she suffered from MAGA indoctrination when she was young.
She begins by saying that those in her household tried to push different political ideas, such as “illegals are taking the jobs.”
The woman also mentions how people around her taught her that democrats were “the enemy” around the time Obama became president. During this time, her family started to say that the only reason he became president was because he was black, but not because he was qualified.
Then, she recounts how those around her told her not to believe some of the information she heard because it was incorrect, which is what she considered indoctrination at the time.
Furthermore, she mentions that, at a point in her life, she didn’t spend a lot of time with her family because her parents were always working, which led to her being angry at the system. However, she mentions that those around her were manipulating her anger to direct it to the wrong people.
According to her, things started changing a bit when Trump was running for President in 2016. She was led to believe that he’d be different and better for the country because he was a businessman. However, whenever she encountered evidence that he wasn’t a good businessman, those around her would use indoctrination tactics on her. Some even told her not to look to other sources for information. Yet, she says that she stopped caring about politics once Trump won during his first term.
Lastly, she talks about how her turning point came once she saw authorities quelling peaceful protests with tear gas. She believed that Trump would come out and say something about these violent acts and how she waited a long time for it to happen, but that moment never arrived.
