There have been numerous horror stories about DoorDash, and most of the time, internet users sympathize with those who go through them. This sympathy was probably what a Georgia woman expected to receive when she shared her experience with DoorDash. She shared footage outside her front door when her driver arrived. Rather than leaving the food there, he tried to open the door. When a neighbor started coming out of their apartment, the driver looked at him and said, “You are not open brother.” From his accent, many believed that English wasn’t his first language. After attempting to open the door again, he addressed the neighbor and asked him, “You open?”
The neighbor then asked the driver if he was delivering something. When the driver said yes, the neighbor instructed him to leave the order there, and he did. This situation was, of course, terrifying to the Georgia woman because she wholeheartedly believed that the guy was trying to break into her apartment. She also wrote in the caption that he took a long time to deliver her order. Plus, he called her several times, and whenever she answered, he didn’t respond. All of these details taken into consideration make her fear valid. People, however, didn’t share her fear, convinced that the driver had made a mistake. This is why she posted another video showing how it was clear that he was standing in front of her apartment’s door and not one leading elsewhere.
People Reacting to the Georgia Woman Accusing the DoorDash Driver
Despite her posting more videos, most people didn’t agree with how the Georgia woman saw the situation. Many started defending the driver, saying that he was just confused, including one woman who said, “He seems confused girl relax.” Another woman wrote, “I don’t think a guy who is trying to get into your apartment would confirm multiple times with the neighbor wether it’s the apartment or if it’s a just a random door leading to a hallway.” Men defended the driver as well, since one man commented, “That man asked was this a door, meaning he probably thought it was leading to another hallway. You neighbor telling him just leave it there confirmed it was an apartment.”
On the other hand, a group of people believed the Georgia woman and started blaming the driver. “I hate that people are genuinely trying to make up excuses for this,” one woman wrote. Another woman also said, “Doordash needs to stop hiring just anybody.” One person then questioned, “Yall saying bro was confused but what’s confusing about DROPPIMG OFF my order and NOT OPENING MY DOOR?” Someone else wrote, “Everyone saying he looks confused it seems like an honest mistake but for what reason what a delivery driver need to open the door? You never open the door when you’re delivering something to somebody’s house or apartment like what are y’all talking about?” Despite these supportive comments, the customer was still the one who received the majority of backlash.
