Former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene accused Donald Trump of betraying the America First agenda. She warned Republicans that voters would punish them in the November 3 midterm elections. Her remarks drew criticism from people accusing her of helping Democrats because of her break with Trump.
In a post on X, Greene argued that Republicans had abandoned the mandate voters gave them in 2024. She pointed to Trump’s Iran war, an alleged Epstein coverup, and rising living costs as campaign betrayals. She also accused Republican lawmakers of following his decisions without challenging him.
The former congresswoman claimed lawmakers feared Trump’s Truth Social posts and were “scared to upset the cult leader.” She blamed that loyalty for the electoral losses she anticipated. “Yet they are going to lose because of the cult leader,” she wrote.
Instead, Greene urged Republicans to end foreign wars and prioritize making life affordable for Americans. She called for cheaper fuel, an end to political corruption, and better opportunities for younger generations. “It’s not loyalty to a man or a party that the American people demand,” she wrote.
Marjorie Taylor Greene Faces Backlash Over Trump Criticism and Midterm Warning
Greene’s warning divided X users, with some accusing her of undermining Republicans while others defended her criticism of Trump.
“Get over yourself! You are willing to give our country over to a bunch of antisemitic socialist because Trump hurt your feelings!” one user wrote.
Another questioned her decision to leave Congress, stating, “But you quit your job rather than fight for America First.”
The criticism also extended to her assessment of Trump’s record. One response argued, “You completely ignore the good things Trump has done to fixate on the things that you disagree with.”
A separate user defended the Iran conflict, writing, “You make zero sense. The war was necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuke.”
However, others supported Greene’s concerns about the Republican Party. One person wrote, “Squandering the largest coalition and a massive mandate is unforgivable”
Another defended her willingness to challenge Trump: “As much as I hate to see the Dems sweep into power, no Republican has had the spine or principles to stand up to Trump outside of MTG and Thomas Massie.”
Greene did not explicitly urge voters to support Democrats in her post. Her warning leaves open how Republicans will respond ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
