Are you a fan of guns, explosions, exploding helicopters and slow motion fires? If so then the good people at Ubisoft have a surprise for you as they debut the launch trailer for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. The trailer focuses on the covert and overt options at your disposal as a member of the elite Ghosts special ops team.
The covert is highlighted with the skulking around in the dark to infiltrate what appears to be an oil refinery and exfiltration by speed boat. More of the action plays out in broad daylight though with the team capturing assets on mountainous roads or partaking in vehicle chases with on Ghost manning a mini-gun as an armada of vehicles pursue.
Ghost Recon Wildlands releases March 7, 2017. The Ubisoft Paris developed title follows the team of four in an open-world representation of Bolivia. The vast countryside will span many environmental types including mountains, deserts, and salt flats, all of which are subject to a dynamic weather system. This all means that you are sure to get your hands dirty as you take on the feared drug cartel, Santa Blanca. The launch trailer for the game features the heavily tattooed leader of Santa Blanca prominently. His choice of facial ink is reminiscent of some Central American gang members’ displays for their organizations such as in El Salvador’s MS-13.

Ghost Recon Wildlands will take place in the near future and as such, technology will nearly mimic what is available to armed forces these days. As the story begins in July 2019, don’t expect to see outlandish flying mech suits and rifles that can shoot around corners like some of the shooters of late that focus on highly advanced weaponry and tools that may never see the light of day in the next century. As a result, vehicles will also feel very familiar ranging from dune buggies, helicopters, and a standard parachute.
Ghost Recon Wildlands will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
