After starring in major blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, Glen Powell has quickly become one of the most in-demand actors in the film industry. Due to all of the success he’s experienced in recent years, you’d think he’d make Los Angeles his forever home. Surprisingly, that’s not the case. The 35-year-old just announced he’s leaving Hollywood for good amid the height of his career.
Glen Powell Leaving Hollywood For Texas
The news of Glen Powell leaving Hollywood understandably comes as a huge shock to fans who fear he may be retiring. However, they shouldn’t worry. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Powell confirmed he’ll continue acting. When he says he’s leaving Hollywood behind, he means he’s ditching his busy lifestyle in Los Angeles for a quieter life in Texas.
The Devotion star was born and raised in Austin but moved to Los Angeles in his early twenties once his acting career began seriously picking up. After spending over 15 years in the City of Angels, Powell is finally ready to return home. Although he’d been itching to go back for a while, he waited until he felt secure enough with his career to officially go through with the move.
Getting to this point in Hollywood is that I can now leave Hollywood. It’s like I’ve earned the ability to go back to my family.

While Powell’s main reason for leaving Hollywood is because of family, he also wanted to finish his college degree. After graduating from Westwood High School in 2007, Powell began attending the University of Texas at Austin. However, he never finished school since he moved to California to pursue acting. Since he’s moving back to Austin, he decided he might as well complete his degree since he’s only a few credits away from graduating.
Although he’ll no longer live at the center of Hollywood in Los Angeles, Powell’s acting career is only set to continue skyrocketing. Up next, he’ll star in Twisters, which will hit theaters later this summer on Friday, July 19.
