‘Go Woke, Go Broke’: Trump Supporters Dunk on North Dakota’s Alan Ritchson After Box Office Flop

Trump supporters mocked North Dakota actor Alan Ritchson after his newest film flopped just days after he criticized Donald Trump during the film’s press tour.

During the press tour for his new film Motor City, Alan Ritchson drew significant attention after criticizing Trump during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Ritchson said he believes more public figures should speak out on political issues, stating, “I’m saying what everybody else is thinking.” He also expressed frustration over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, saying, “Release the files. It’s the law. Show us the files.”

Ritchson went on to sharply criticize Trump, calling him a “rapist” and a “con man,” while arguing that the president’s past association with Epstein warranted greater public scrutiny. Trump has denied wrongdoing related to Epstein, and the White House rejected Ritchson’s remarks, defending the president and dismissing the actor’s allegations.

Ritchson’s comments also prompted backlash from many supporters of Trump, with some taking to social media to criticize the actor and call for a boycott of his projects. Critics argued that entertainers should avoid making political statements while promoting their work, while others said they would no longer watch his films or the hit series Reacher because of his remarks. Several posts urged fellow conservatives to stop supporting Ritchson’s work, reflecting a broader pattern in which politically charged comments by celebrities often lead to online calls for consumer boycotts from people who disagree with their views.

It appears that some of Trump’s supporters believe they followed through on their calls to boycott the film. According to ComingSoon, Ritchson’s new movie, Motor City, flopped at the box office. This comes just days after his criticism of Trump.

The film reportedly earned about $1.625 million despite opening in approximately 1,600 theaters. The reported opening has been widely viewed as disappointing given the film’s reported $30 million production budget. However, the studio has not publicly attributed the box office performance to any specific factor.

The film also received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 63% critics’ score and a 66% audience score. Meanwhile, users on IMDb have given Motor City a rating of 6.2 out of 10. It remains unclear whether the film’s box office performance will improve in the coming weeks as its theatrical run continues.

Trump Supporters Celebrate North Dakota Actor’s Film Flopping

After the North Dakota actor’s film was labeled a box office flop, many supporters of Trump took to social media to celebrate the news. “Deserved! Now Trump should sue the [expletive] out of him!” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “Nothing like royally pissing off more than half your audience.”

More people continued criticizing Ritchson over his political comments. “I saw a movie of his on a Netflix list. Probably would have watched it last month but happened to catch a clip of his rant. Never watching a movie with him again. Like De Niro. All my patriots doing the same. They never learn that we are the fans with [money emoji] #GoWokeGoBroke,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “Equal rights… he can sit in the corner with the other dummies who tank their box office with inane political stances and hate for normies. They’ll all be AI soon enough. Dummies just accelerate the transition.”

The disappointing performance of Alan Ritchson’s latest film fell short of what its producers may have hoped for. However, it remains unclear whether the actor’s criticism of Trump, the online boycott calls, or a lack of audience interest in the film itself directly influenced the box office results.
