The Muspelheim Language Ciphers in God of War 2018 grant you access to the Realm of Fire to complete the trails. The chests that hold these Ciphers can be hard to find, especially with some only able to be found after specific points in the story. There are four Ciphers that can be found across seven different locations, with six in Midgard and one in Alfheim. These Cipher fragments are found in large chests similar to the ones that players will be ripping open throughout the game, though these specific chests have a purple highlight to them.
It is important to note that you may not always get a Cipher from the chest, possibly because the game makes sure you don’t unlock the Muspelheim too early. If you reach one of these chests and it doesn’t provide the Cipher, don’t worry; simply visit another one.
Lookout Tower Muspelheim Language Cipher Chest
The Lookout Tower is a location that you will need to row to in a boat found to the right of the bridge of Tyr’s Temple and to the left of the Muspelheim Realm Tower. Once you have docked here (or fast travel if you have already visited this location), you will need to look to the left, and you will find a climbable wall covered by spikes. Throw your axe at the device to the left of the wall to remove the spike and climb the wall.
Once at the top of the wall, you will find a gap also being blocked by spikes. Turn around and throw your axe at the device again to clear the way. Follow the path provided and climb another wall. Once at the top, climb one more wall to the right and zipline to a new area near the Realm Tower. Go to the left of the Jotnar Shrine and climb a final wall. You will find the chest with the Muspelheim Language Cipher.
Cliff of the Raven Muspelheim Language Cipher Chest
To the left of the bridge, you will need to throw your axe through some vines to climb a chain. Once at the top, go left and hop up on a rock to climb another wall. Run past the gold chest and drop down into a large area with a climbable wall to the left. Use your axe to break the wood blocking a small passage at the top of the wall and send Atreus up the wall. He will throw you down a chain to progress. You will find the chest at the top of this chain.
Forgotten Caverns Muspelheim Language Cipher Chest
Found on the opposite side of the Lake from the bridge, This area is the easiest to traverse but can only be accessed after the water has receded for the second time. Dock at the location pictured below and enter the cave. Go to the right and climb the wall. There aren’t any detours here; simply follow the path laid out, which requires jumping across a gap and climbing another wall. The Chest is found under the corpse of the dragon you crashed while fighting Baldur.
Lake of the Nine Foothills Muspelheim Language Cipher Chest
Starting from Tyr’s Temple, run across the bridge and head towards the mountain. Once you fling open the giant double doors, go to the right where you either will or have previously dealt with poison gas. Continue down this path until you drop down into a small chasm. To the left, there will be a wall that is next to one of those gas dispensers, and to the left of that is the chest. Freeze the gas with your axe and open the chest.
The Summit Muspelheim Language Cipher Chest
During the main story, when you reach the summit of the mountain and have Mimir join your group, head down the stairs, and you will see the chest to the left near an overlook. If you are pass this mission, then simply fast travel to the location called “The Summit” and walk up the stairs to where you find Mimir. You will see the chest on the way up.
Alfheim Muspelheim Language Cipher Chest
Travel to Alfheim and go straight across the entrance bridge. Once you pass the Archway at the end of the bridge, the chest containing the Muspelheim Language Cipher will be on your right.
Witch’s Cave Muspelheim Language Cipher
Speaking of Alfheim, you will need to get the Shock Arrows from that Realm to get this final chest. Go to The Witch’s House, which can be accessed by going to the Mystic Gateway “Witch’s Cave Lower Level” and taking the elevator up. After the long ride, look to the right of the elevator and you should see Red Sap. Use the Shock Arrow to destroy it and clear a path. Walkthrough the opening and go to the right, and you will find the chest.
Once you find four of the Muspelheim Language Ciphers in God of War at any of these seven locations, return to the Bifrost in Tyr’s Temple, and you will be able to access the Realm of Fire, Muspelheim.
