Google Stadia founders knew there might be a wait before they received their equipment. What users didn’t realize is there might be a long wait before they got their activation codes.
Aware of the delay or not, launch day for the streaming service has hit another hiccup. Several users who preordered the Founders’ edition have taken to Reddit to voice their displeasure.
Some users claim they preordered as soon as they possibly could. Some of those users claim they’ve been told it could be another three-to-five days before they will receive their activation codes.
Other Google Stadia founders say they’ve gotten their equipment but have only been told they’ll get the codes “soon”. The confusion over when people can get access to a service they paid over $130 for, is another round of confusion over Stadia’s launch.

Offered as a way to play anywhere, pre-order numbers were reported to be near-sellout levels. For its part, some have claimed Google Stadia founders edition sales underperformed projections.
What is clear is the activation code issue contributes to a tough launch day. Reviews haven’t been kind.
Critics have described lag issues featuring prominently. Articles centering around canceled orders have been popping up more and more. Now Google is angering some of its most supportive user base. Those in the Stadia subreddit have kept a positive outlook. They’ve urged patience for the new service.
Now, the mood in that subreddit is starting to turn. The lack of coordination is perplexing to many.
The lack of any rhyme or reason why some Google Stadia founders getting their gear and activation codes is adding fuel to the fire.
If nothing else, the activation code is just another issue Google will need to fix. Some problems are to be expected on launch day. There are enough amassing for Google Stadia that questions about launch timing will only get louder.
