It’s safe to say that not everyone in the U.S. is best pleased with the Trump administration right now. As the POTUS’ ‘Special Government Employee’, aka billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk, continues to dismantle core federal agencies like USAID, while relentlessly gutting state social programs like Medicaid and Medicare, many citizens have taken to the streets in protest. During a speech in Wisconsin, however, the governor of Minnesota, who ran for vice-president last year alongside presidential candidate Kamala Harris, made a lighthearted joke at Tesla and Musk’s expense. Specifically, he admitted to feeling “a little boost” whenever he looked at Tesla’s plummeting stock market shares.
While up on stage at a town hall event in Eau Claire, Walz slammed Elon Musk with language straight out of Trump’s playbook. “On the iPhone, they’ve got that little Stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day… 225 and dropping! And if you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off, you know.”
With Tesla’s stock continuing to plummet — it’s nosediving towards a ninth-straight weekly drop, and fell another 5% on Tuesday, according to Business Insider — the sales woes for the popular car manufacturer is becoming a noticeable issue for the Starlight founder and CEO.In a recent interview with Fox News, Musk looked visibly upset when discussing how Tesla has become the target of protestors’ frustrations, declaring, “I’ve never done anything harmful, I’ve only done productive things… this doesn’t make any sense.”
Netizens, of course, couldn’t resist chiming in with their own thoughts on Walz’s amusing clip. One Redditor weighed in writing, “My governor doing standup wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card, but then again neither was most of what’s happening right now.” with another adding, “Tim Walz is a national treasure 💯”. Meanwhile, over on TikTok, a user thoughtfully penned, “I wish this guy was VP instead of doing standup.”
