Sofia Vergara is no longer the queen. The Modern Family star’s Griselda has lost its first place standing on Netflix as rom-com One Day has taken over the streaming service. It took a few days for the romance to kick in for audiences, but after weeks of the drug cartel series taking everyone’s attention, it has moved down a slot to make room for a new flavor.
Created by Nicole Taylor based on the novel of the same name by David Nicholls, the series follows Emma (Ambika Mod) and Dexter (Leo Woodall) as they speak for the first time on graduation day before going on with their lives. Once a year, they reunite and build up deeper feelings for one another. The 14-episode series also stars Amber Grappy, Brendan Quinn, Tim McInnerny, Johnny Weldon, and Eleanor Tomilson.
One Day Takes Over Netflix, Putting Griselda Down a Slot
According to Flix Patrol, the climb had been going steadily for One Day since it debuted on Netflix on February 8. Yesterday, it was in second place, but today, it finally climbed over the large hurdle in front of it. Going down from the drug cartel limited series, the rest of the top shows include House, A Killer Paradox, Fool Me Once, Baby Bandito, Doctor Slump, The Tourist, Alexander: The Making of a God, and The Rookie.
Griselda became popular because of its gripping true story and the sight of its lead star in a role, unlike her previous projects, like the sitcom that made her career. She played Griselda Blanco, a real drug lord who broke new ground in the criminal underworld with her empire.
One Day found ground right away after dropping on Netflix. It received overwhelmingly positive reviews as it secured a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences largely agreed as the viewer score reached 85%.
One Day and Griselda are available on Netflix.
