GTA: San Andreas is one the most memorable games ever made, with some of the best quotes in the history of video games. The game revolutionized the industry, but the real reason it was quite a blast was its cultural impact. The story of GTA: San Andreas, set in 1992, tackles many cultural movements and issues like racism, the hippie lifestyle, and a corrupt government system.
Rockstar recently released the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Trilogy brought some great memories back, especially GTA: San Andreas. San Andreas is packed with great dialogues, and most of them stuck around thanks to the memes. But those dialogues seemed so much deeper now that I have lived a little bit longer. So I picked the best and most memorable quotes of GTA San Andreas that you can read and remember below.
Kid, I’m a Hippie. The Only Thing I’ve Shot Is Acid.
The Truth is one of the most complicated side characters in the whole GTA series. He might seem mad or paranoid at first, but if you listen closely to what he says, he seems to more a thing or two that normal people don’t.
In the mission Are You Going To San Fierro? CJ asks this hippie if he can shoot. Well, that is quite a stupid question since The Truth is a hippie, a person who abhors violence. And Truth gives a fun answer to Carl by saying, “Shoot? I’m a hippie. The only thing I’ve shot is acid. I heard of a dude snorting it once. Thought his nose was a kangaroo, and the moon was a dog! WOAH!”
Like It Says In The Book… We Are Both Blessed and Cursed.
Big Smoke has many memorable quotes, and we will mention some more from him, but I love this line. While driving around with Big Smoke, he once tells CJ, “Like it says in the book… we are both blessed and cursed.” As CJ said, we don’t know what book he’s quoting from, but it is one hell of an existential book.
If you look at your life and the life of others, you can realize Big Smoke is telling some harsh truth. We are all blessed with the beautiful things we see and do every day, like sunsets, a child’s smile. But also, we are cursed with pain and suffering that can have any origin. So, yes. We are both blessed and cursed.
I Can S—t on You From Such A Height, That You’ll Think God Himself Took A Crap On You!
What other line could possibly show a corrupt police officer than this one? Samuel L. Jackson’s voice made this line stuck on my mind the first time I heard it. Officer Tenpenny couldn’t be more corrupt. He sells and uses drugs, starts gang wars to make money, and makes people do his dirty work. He is the most evil character in GTA San Andreas.
Throughout the game, Tenpenny makes you kill and destroy many witnesses and evidence; he can make you dance to his tone with the tip of his finger. If you look at his character, you can believe he is a god, craping on people. But history is never kind to the people who take the role of a god.
I’ll Have Two Number 9’s, A Number 9 Large…
Big Smoke might have said the most existential quote in the whole game, but that doesn’t mean he won’t fill his big stomach. Ordering so many foods that could be enough for three more people. This line adds comedy to the scene and shows how much Smoke, Ryder, CJ, and Sweet are close to each other.
The line also indicates that these characters are real people. They get hungry, some prefer chicken to fast food, and there is always a person who eats too much. It adds to the dynamic relationship these four characters have. The line has every required perk to become a memorable line for the fans.
Ah S—t, Here We Go Again
This GTA: San Andreas quote lived longer than everyone anticipated thanks to the meme culture. It is one of the earliest dialogues in San Andreas and indicates something important actually. Something has happened to CJ before that we do not know.
It also reminds CJ how life is nothing but a cycle repeating itself. “Here we go again” means that CJ was in this particular situation before. Probably he reminds all the times he was a hopeless youth with no money and a hothead. The period he tried to escape from came back around the cycle to welcome him again.
All You Had To Do Was Follow The Damn Train, CJ!
This line may not be as deep as the ones before, but it brings back some horrible memories. Following that damn train was the nightmare of GTA: San Andreas players. There were many reasons why we couldn’t pass the mission. But the big one was the slippery aiming of Big Smoke. The matters get worst when he blames you for his failure.
It wasn’t the mission itself that made gamers furious; it was the line that Big Smoke would say every time after he failed to kill the targets. It gave such a negative vibe that players preferred quitting the game rather than hearing that harsh line again.
Groove Street. Home
The first time you arrive at CJ’s hood, he would say, “Groove Street. Home”. It wasn’t the line that made it special and memorable, but the way Christopher Ballard said those words with such regrate made the line stay in our minds forever.
CJ left Groove Street in search of a more peaceful life. Even though he comes back to the place he left because of a bad vibe, most of his lovely memories are from Groove, his home. Every human has an especially bond with his home, whether it’s good or bad.
These were the most memorable quotes that made me feel nostalgic while playing GTA: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition. Although most people have memories with these lines, some might pick different lines. Either way, we can all agree that San Andreas had a fantastic story packed with great dialogues.
