When it comes to pop culture memorabilia, there will always be things that require people to get up a little earlier in the morning and get to the store before everyone else. More specifically, Anime Expo in Houston, Texas, was giving away a Gundam trading card that had limited quantities. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to get a card, and instead of simply accepting that fact, one man decided to take things a little more personally. Realistically, this is one of the major reasons why I don’t really like going to anime conventions.
The above video shows just one of the many viral perspectives taken of this moment at Anime Expo 2025 in Houston, Texas. In the video, you can hear a man shrieking, though you can’t tell exactly why. He can be seen outside a booth, seemingly unable to accept something that must have happened. Another perspective of the video explains things a little more, showing off the exact card that the man in the above video was screaming about.
Allegedly, the man in question had tried counting how many cards were left and tried to skip that number of people in line to acquire one for himself. Unfortunately, due to the limited quantity of the card, a Resource card from the Gundam Trading Card Game, the line was stopped just before he was able to receive one. Instead of just accepting his fate, he lost his mind.
Various commenters were quick to judge the man, with one person saying, “grown-up man btw ๐.” Unfortunately, this isn’t anything I haven’t seen before, as someone who’s worked directly with highly-sought-after collectibles that men like the one featured above go absolutely insane for.
Hopefully, security was able to reach the booth before the man made any more of a scene than he already had. I also hope that he is exempt from any future Anime Expo conventions. Personally, we no longer need people like him at anime conventions; they tarnish the reputation of the rest of us.
