Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been dodging rumors about their marriage for months. The couple, who met when they were both coaches on The Voice, celebrated their third wedding anniversary on July 3. Of course, Stefani didn’t pass up the opportunity to gush over her husband while celebrating the milestone. However, some fans weren’t thrilled about the way that the No Doubt lead singer opted to honor the country music star.
The Things reports that Gwen Stefani took to her Instagram account to share a message of love for Blake Shelton on their third anniversary. In addition to sharing multiple photos from their wedding day, Stefani captioned her post, “July 3, 2021, it has always been you.” Of course, Shelton replied with a sweet message of his own.
However, it was Stefani’s words that rubbed some fans the wrong way. A few even believed that she may have used her words to get a subtle dig in at her former husband, Gavin Rossdale.
“It shows so much insecurity, her need to somehow put her ex-husband down in little, petty ways. It doesn’t give me a (truly) happy vibe,” one person commented on the post. “No it hasn’t. Clearly you both had people and more importantly children before you met. It’s hasn’t always been you more like It’s become you,” another wrote.
Of course, several fans defended the post and gushed over Stefani and Shelton on their special day. Previously, Stefani and Rossdale were married and welcomed three sons together. However, things took a turn when it was alleged that the Bush lead singer may have been unfaithful to his wife with their nanny, Mindy Mann.
Not long after her split, Gwen Stefani met Blake Shelton, and the two hit it off. The pair were said to have bonded over their divorces. They dated for years before Shelton finally popped the question in 2020.
Since that time, Gwen Stefani has often gushed over Blake Shelton on social media. The couple appear to be going strong as they happily celebrated three years of wedded bliss.
