Gwen Stefani turned up the emotion during her Father’s Day tribute to her husband, Blake Shelton. The No Doubt singer posted a video of the country music crooner to her Instagram feed. In the clips, Shelton is seen with Stefani and her three children, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo, whom she shares with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. In the video montage, Shelton hands his wife flowers and even hugs his stepsons. The tribute was very sweet, and fans gushed over the personal look into the couple’s life. However, the post did spark a bit of debate.
While Gwen Stefani obviously wanted to honor Blake Shelton as the stepfather of her three sons, she opted not to share a post about their biological father, Gavin Rossdale, per Cheat Sheet. During their marriage, Stefani and Rossdale had a lot of ups and downs and allegedly split because of the rocker’s infidelity. However, some fans seemingly thought posting so lovingly about Shelton while ignoring Rossdale was a bad look.
“Shady towards Gavin and I love every second of it,” one person commented on the Instagram post. “Gavin has earned every bit of shade,” another replied.
Meanwhile, Rossdale posted his own Father’s Day tribute on Instagram, and fans commended him for doing so amid Stefani’s snub.
“Happy father’s day to me and all the dads out there that love their kids and do the very best they can. I’m really lucky to have these extraordinary people to call my own. It’s a wild journey where love and support and patience wins all the way,” he captioned photos of himself with his three sons as well as his daughter from a previous relationship.
It seems that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are in a good place in their marriage. Recently, reports surfaced that the couple had been on the rocks for awhile. However, they took the time and energy to fix their issues and are now thriving.
“They prioritized spending time with one another and got back to doing the things that brought them together in the first place, like making music,” an insider told Life and Style.
Speculation about Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton planning to have their own child together via surrogate has also circulated. However, the couple have given no hints that they’re planning to expand their family.
