When you see somebody saying something harmful to another person, you should always try to say something back. In a Harlem, New York gym, everybody was gathering to bring in the new year with fitness goals in mind. However, one gym-goer decided to lash out at a woman who was exercising next to him. Why? He claimed he doesn’t “want fat people next to him” at the gym. How’s that for some good, old-fashioned hate?
Markie (@_markie.__) shared a TikTok video of an interaction that happened at his local gym as he tried to ring in 2026 with a workout session. He was recording a video of himself lifting weights when he noticed a man fighting with a woman across the gym. He didn’t want her exercising next to him because he thought she was too overweight. This is a truly disgusting attitude to bring to the gym.
Markie yelled across the gym at the aggressive, rude man, “It’s a new year!” implying that people are trying to better themselves as their 2026 goal. In the meantime, another gym-goer attempted to calm the woman, who was clearly upset about the interaction. The man who said those rude things to her kept repeating what he said to her, so Markie spoke up again. He called out across the gym, “You’re a weirdo, bro.”
Markie then decided to approach the man so he could make his point loud and clear. He kept disrupting the cruel gym-goer by calling him a weirdo until he eventually hung up his weights. While Markie berated him, calling him a “stick figure,” the man tried to appear to ignore him, scrolling on his phone. When push came to shove, he definitely didn’t want to defend himself. It looks like he was too scared to back up the hurtful things he said to that woman.
One commenter praised Markie on his video, “This healed something in me, thank you for helping her.” Another person commented, “Shout out to ya’ll because if that was me, I would’ve cancelled my membership and never went into a gym again, I can’t lie. That must’ve hurt her feelings so bad because at least she’s trying.” The gym is for everyone. Those who gatekeep going to the gym are really one of the worst types of judgmental people. Let people live, and live happily and healthily.
