Olivia Dunne tends not to receive criticism to her impressive gymnastics displays on Instagram, but her 4 million+ followers didn’t seem too keen on her early November post from last year. Sharing snapshots of herself in a leotard as she both stretched her toned figure and delivered a flawless, mid-air split, Olivia wowed with her skillset, but the 21-year-old fell under fire as fans accused her of editing her images.
Olivia has now hit celebrity status as her profile rises. While her Sports Illustrated Swim debut last year was well-received, fans seemed on the fence about her November 5, 2023 post.
Olivia Dunne Flaunts Flexibility With Splits On Instagram
Rocking a skintight, sleeveless leotard as she opened with a floor stretch, Olivia highlighted her ultra-toned legs and waistline, plus her gym-honed arms.
Stretching one leg out, the LSU gymnast drew attention to her muscular limbs as she tied her light locks back, reaching out with one hand as if to grab a ball. In the next slide, Olivia upped the ante, showing off a flying, mid-air split that was perfectly delivered.
The American Eagle partner closed her post with a dramatic, sensual, dance-like pose as she stretched her arms and threw her head back a little.
Fans Aren’t Digging It
In a caption, Dunne wrote: “Tiger nation let’s ride😎.”
Over 3,000 users liked a reply reading: “I’m sorry but the photoshop on the 2nd pic is so obvious 😂😂😂.” Meanwhile, 600+ fans liked a comment saying:
“It’s so sad, that you feel the need to photoshop your body till you look like you can’t hold organs in your stomach because of its tiny size.” The fan added that Olivia looks “beautiful without any photoshop on your body. Only thing that your photoshopping causes is like thousands of girls all around the world having unrealistic standards on their bodies and unhealthy relationship with themselves. Think about that.”
Echoing the thought and gaining over 1,000 likes was a further fan, who told the New Jersey native: “Photoshopping is crazyyy.
Olivia does not appear to have responded to the backlash. Her post did receive plenty of positive feedback, though. It also earned a like from Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin, who follows Dunne on Instagram.
Despite the tirade of criticism, Olivia doesn’t seem to have suffered, popularity-wise. She remains the most-followed NCAA athlete on social media.
