Dark Horse Comics manga has announced that H.P Lovecraft’s The Shadow Over Innsmouth manga is set to arrive this fall. The graphic novel collects the full manga series by Eisner and Gou Tanabe in one complete volume. Zack Davisson will be translating the manga for the western release.
Based on the only H.P. Lovecraft story published as a book, The Shadow Over Innsmouth is a new adaptation by modern horror manga author Gou Tanabe. The synopsis for the book goes on to describe the manga as;
“The isolated coastal settlement of Innsmouth, Massachusetts, was assaulted by U.S. government agencies in the winter of 1927-28. Its waterfront was burned and dynamited. Its people are taken away to internment camps. Yet that was neither the beginning nor the end. A young antiquarian uncovers the horrors of the town, in search of rumors of the town’s dead past. Now he finds them still very much alive! He must live through finding the truths lying underwater deeper and cooler than any earthly grave!”
Since its release, the manga has gotten praise from other artists and authors like Junji Ito, Anime News Network, and AiPT.
