Supergiant Games has confirmed that Hades II will launch as a console exclusive for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases later this year. The news was revealed in a new Creator’s Voice video published by Nintendo, where the developer discussed plans for the roguelike sequel.
While Hades II is also planned for other consoles, its initial release will be exclusive to Nintendo’s next-gen Switch 2. So, in other words, the Hades sequel will be a timed exclusive. No specific release date has been shared, but the game is expected to arrive sometime in 2025. Hades II has already been available in early access on PC for a while, so this timed exclusivity is just limited to the console version of the game.
This announcement is part of a continuing series of Creator’s Voice interviews that Nintendo has been producing to highlight third-party developers bringing games to Switch 2. Last week’s entry featured FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki, who confirmed new details about the upcoming title The Duskbloods.
Hades II, first announced in December 2022, is the follow-up to the original Hades, which was released in September 2020 after an early access period beginning in 2018. The first game received multiple Game of the Year awards and was widely praised for its storytelling and combat systems. The sequel introduces a new protagonist, the immortal Princess of the Underworld, and expands the game’s world and mechanics as players face off against the Titan of Time.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for global release on June 5, 2025. Nintendo hosted a full Direct presentation last week detailing the new console’s hardware and upcoming game lineup. The price of the console has drawn a bit of contention at $450, but what has been even more controversial is the $80-90 price tag for each game, including upscaled versions of games from the Switch.
