Halls of Torment is a rogue-lite in which you must fight huge waves of monsters using one of seven unique heroes. During the runs, you must improve your character by choosing from dozens of different abilities, traits, or items. Players unfamiliar with the genre may find it challenging to choose the right one due to a lack of understanding of specific effects or character features. To help you collect the best builds for your heroes, we will show you the abilities and traits tier list to help you get the best results in Halls of Torment.
Halls of Torment: Ability & Traits Tier List
Players unfamiliar with the rogue-lite genre may have doubts when choosing abilities and traits for their character, so when starting to play Halls of Torment, it will be helpful to understand which ones are the strongest. But it would be best if you also kept in mind that the characters in the game have pretty different basic stats, features, strengths, and weaknesses, so some of the abilities will not be universal for each. Some of them from the lower tier are not well-suited for most heroes but are useful for one or two.
Tier | Ability |

B | Radiant Aura, Kugelblitz, False Blessing, Phantom Needles, Transfixion, Arcane Splinter, Thick Hide, Demonic Exchange (Speed), Swift Feet, Collateral Damage, Vanguard, Multihit |
C | Demonic Exchange (Damage), Bulwark, Demonic Exchange (Duration), Piercing Wind, Channeling |
Halls of Torment: Tier List Explanation
Using our Halls of Torment tier list, you can create the strongest builds for your characters, but for a better understanding, we need to explain how it works.
- S Tier: These are the best abilities and should be used for characters in most cases if you have the opportunity. Races with S Tier abilities will be much more successful, but unfortunately, there are not very many of them.
- A Tier: This tier contains strong, stable abilities you can safely use for your characters. But no matter how good they are, S Tier’s abilities are too strong. A Tier abilities positively impact the game but use them only if you don’t have powers from a higher tier.
- B Tier: These are good abilities that are not too strong but can bring satisfactory results. Of course, they are not comparable to S Tier and A Tier abilities, so replace them as soon as possible as they become quite weak in the late game.
- C Tier: These abilities are a poor choice for your heroes, so use them only if you have no choice. But still, despite being ineffective, you can use them in certain situations and modes where they can even be useful sometimes.
Halls of Torment: Abilities to Choose for Each Class
As mentioned above, each character in Halls of Torment has slightly different abilities depending on their features. We will show you some of them you can use for your character. This list will not include many skills because they need to be tested well for each character, so you have a lot of room for exploration. Also, there will be abilities from low tiers. This is because, despite their low effectiveness, they can still be a good choice for some characters.
- Sorceress: Strength, Ruthlessness, Cunning Technique, Piercing Wind, Multihit, Swift Feet, Thick Hide, Lightning Strike, Dragon Breath.
- Cleric: Strength, Quick Hands, Multihit, Vanguard, Collateral Damage, Radiant Aura, Lightning Strike.
- Archer: Quick Hands, Strength, Ruthlessness, Piercing Wind, Multihit, Phantom Needles, Transfixion.
- Shieldmaiden: Parry, Cunning Technique, Ruthlessness, Quick Hands, Radiant Aura, Dragon Breath.
- Exterminator: Quick Hands, Lightning Strike, Phantom Needles.
- Warlock: Clay Golem, Strength, Channeling, Lightning Strike
- Swordsman: Collateral Damage, Vanguard, Strength, Quick Hands, Cunning Technique, Ruthlessness, Long Fingers, Thick Hide, Parry, Metabolism, Phantom Needles, Transfixion.
