You heard me right, on top of the 20 multiplayer maps expected to drop with Halo 5: Guardians when it launches on October 27th, 343 Industries will also offer the 15 DLC maps at no extra cost.

How can they do this you ask?

Well thanks to an Interview with Game Informer, 343 Studio head Josh Holmes said that they want to keep the player base united and thanks to some insider details from an IGN article you can see what he has to say before the issue releases later this month or you can subscribe digitally and get all the details now.

“When you have paid map packs and content, you divide the player base into two groups: the haves and the have-nots,”

“The people that have the map pack can play together but the people who don’t cannot. That to us is a real problem. So we’re delivering all the maps to all players free so everybody will be able to play together. That, we feel, is really important to having a great multiplayer ecosystem.”

Holmes said Halo 5 represents

“The biggest investment we’ve made in multiplayer in series history. We’re trying to provide as much variety and different ways to play for different play styles, just an immense amount of content.”

The 15 DLC maps are expected by June, 2016, according to Holmes.

Are you excited about the Master Chiefs new direction?

I’m certainly excited to get back on the Halo multiplayer hype after having a good few hours spent playing the Beta way back in January, come check out what I thought in my blog, Manically Depressed – Moderately Funny.

Excuse the awful writing, grammar, spelling, layout, pictures and content. I was new to the game.

Let us know what you think about the idea of free maps below, I for one certainly agree its a good choice.

Look out for more Halo 5: Guardians details coming at E3 2015.
