According to Comicbook, the upcoming Halo Infinite season 2 update will allow players to earn Credits, the in-game currency for the game used to purchase player customization items, boosts, and other consumables, as well as unique Battle Passes that never expire, just by playing the game; where before, the only way they would be able to earn Credits would be to drop actual money in exchange for a certain amount of Credits. Below is the announcement made by John Junyszek, a 343 Industries community manager:
Thanks to your continued feedback, we are happy to confirm Credits will be earnable in Season 2’s Battle Pass. That means you will be able to earn credits as part of your Halo Infinite progression. We’ll have more to share on this as we get closer to Season 2.
Play-and-Earn This Summer
There are incoming Halo Infinite updates, like one that lowers the prices in the in-game marketplace, but this play-and-earn model won’t be going live until closer to the summertime. It is still unclear how it will work; will the Credits only be earned when you level up? Will there be Credits awarded for winning online matches? The biggest issue that can arise and could sour some fans would be if they make the play-and-earn credits different than the credits you can buy using actual money. There will certainly be more specific updates as we get closer to Halo Infinite season 2.
Halo Infinite season 1 is still going strong and was initially supposed to only run for a handful of months, but as Halo Infinite’s release day came closer and closer, they announced that it will actually run until May 2022.
Halo Infinite is currently available on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
