Last June, Showtime unveiled the development of a 10-episode Halo series. Although the episode count has since been shortened to 9, this series, based on smash-hit video games and novels, is still highly anticipated by fans. Now, according to variety.com, Showtime has just announced that three new cast members have joined the roster!
Charlie Murphy
Charlie Murphy joins the cast, filling the compelling role of Makee. In this series, Makee is a human who was raised by the Covenant! Interestingly, the infamous alien theocracy is willing to take in an orphaned human and impart upon her their disdain for humanity. This twist surely sets the stage for some conflicting interactions throughout the series! Murphy is credited on such screenings as Peaky Blinders, Happy Valley and Misfits, and is sure to bring a unique energy to an equally unique character!
Danny Sapani
Danny Sapani is cast in the role of Captain Jacob Keyes, a war hero, father and ex-husband. This character designation certainly indicates some dramatic tension within the plot! But perhaps more importantly, Sapani is quite a reputable actor. He is credited on several high-level productions, including Black Panther and Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. His appearance in the Halo series is sure to be strong!
Olive Gray
The final new addition to the cast of Showtime’s Halo series is Olive Gray! Gray is an English actress, well-known for her contribution to BBC’s Half Moon Investigations. Furthermore, she is credited on a myriad of screenings, including Sex Education, Dark Money and The Story of Tracy Beaker. Gray is cast in the role of Miranda Keyes, a UNSC doctor and scientist bent on understanding Covenant culture.
In all, Showtime’s Halo series has signed on three strong new cast members! It seems as though production is on-schedule, set to begin this month in Budapest. Right now, Showtime plans to air the series in the first quarter of 2021. Stay tuned for more news!
