Not many musicians can say they become huge actors too. Combine that with another star; you get a bright shine that attracts all sorts of attention. It has been well documented in the press about the relationship between Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde. In an extensive interview with Rolling Stone, the pop artist talked about the hate he sees online about his significant other from his fan base.
“It’s obviously a difficult feeling to feel like being close to me means you’re at the ransom of a corner of Twitter or something,” he said. “I just wanted to sing. I didn’t want to get into it if I was going to hurt people like that.”
While Harry Styles talked about the difficulty of having someone with him, they will be subject to scrutiny and hate from people online, Olivia Wilde has something else to add. For her, only a small part of the community that follows him acts this way. The majority of the fans of the actress and director are “champions of kindness.”
“What I don’t understand about the cruelty you’re referencing is that kind of toxic negativity is the antithesis of Harry, and everything he puts out there,” she said. “I don’t personally believe the hateful energy defines his fan base at all. The majority of them are true champions of kindness.”
Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde open up about hate toward her from his fans
The intimate side of their relationship has crossed with their professional as they worked together on the set of Don’t Worry Darling. The upcoming film that Olivia Wilde directed, starred in, and produced, will mark a different shift for her after her 2019 comedy Booksmart; she is diving into the realm of thrills. It is written by Katie Silberman (Booksmart) and Carey and Shane Van Dyke (Chernobyl Diaries). Harry Styles stars opposite Florence Pugh. The trio is joined by Chris Pine, Gemma Chan (Eternals), Kate Berlant (A League of Their Own), Nick Kroll (Big Mouth), Timothy Simons (Veep), and Sydney Chandler (Pistol).
The film follows Alice Chamers (Pugh) and her husband Jack (Harry Styles) as they enter an experimental utopian bubble. The only rule of this seemingly perfect community is that you cannot leave. Soon, Alice discovers dark secrets lingering behind the scenes after a housewife goes missing.
Harry Styles will have a big couple of months. Don’t Worry Darling hits theaters on September 23, and My Policeman will have a limited release on October 21.
