Harvestella, the Final Fantasy developer’s attempt at the ever-popular life-simulator genre, is now available to be bought and played. Managing your income and expenses in this game is crucial if you want to progress through the game phases. To help with your endeavor, we have listed the five best ways to quickly farm Grilla, the in-game money, in Harvestella.

[Updated August 24, 2024 – Updated links]

1. Make Grilla Quick in Early Game – Sell Lettuce and Tomatoes

Since this is a farming game, the first and most basic way to make money or Grilla quickly in Harvestella is by farming. When you’re still in the early game, there aren’t many types of crops that you can farm and sell, so you should start with low-cost but consistent ones such as Dress Lettuce for 85 Grilla and Carrops for 115 Grilla. Then, once you have an excess of them, according to Reddit user u/VertVentus, who did some number-crunching and compiled data from various sources, you would want to switch to Cucumbles, which are priced at 200 Grilla and grow fast.

Once you hit Chapter 3, though, you might start getting Nemean Tomatoes from dungeon chests and mines. These Tomatoes are a pretty effective money-maker even though it’s priced at 65 Grilla since they can be easily re-harvested, and you don’t have to even buy more seeds. A yield of 3 Nemean Tomatoes per seed should be enough to give profit if you do buy the seeds. The Mayor likes to gift seeds by mail after a couple of days have passed, so you can use them instead to save money.

And don’t forget to get the Hammer as soon as possible when you start your game. The hammer can be used to clear the debris littering your farm, which means you can start growing more crops to be sold.

2. Always Check the Faerie Orders

At some point in the game, you’ll unlock the Faerie Orders after meeting the Fire Faerie. By completing these Orders, you’ll open up more abilities for your character, such as watering multiple plants at once or expanding the size of your fields. Even new biomes will become accessible as you encounter more Faeries. This means you can harvest more produce and cultivate specialty crops as well for more money.

3. Throw Excess Anything into the Shipping Box

Finding a balance between raw materials stock and Grilla is important. But you’ll eventually have more raw materials and items that you can get ahold of once you advance through more dungeons and open up chests, loot monsters, or from fishing anyway. So if you do feel like getting more money, then don’t be afraid to throw anything you don’t currently need into the Shipping Box to sell.

After you’ve hoarded 10 or more of Rusty Metal, Hard Stone, Meat, Lumber, and other materials, just sell them. Even though they’re only 20 Grilla each, they add up when sold in bulk. Rare items like Star Crystals (100 Grilla) and Black Pearls (500 Grilla) are also fetching a high price, so always keep your eyes on those kinds of stuff too.

4. Remember to Do the Side Quests

Side Quests should start appearing once you complete the first dungeon. These are indicated by a white diamond and an exclamation point when you run around the town. While limited, more will show up over time, and most can be done pretty fast. You can make up to 1,000 Grilla for the reward, so always remember to knock off Side Quests from your Harvestella to-do list.

5. Cook and Sell Fully Prepared Meals

Cooking is important not only for your character’s health but also for your wallet. Compared to selling raw materials, selling Cooked meals will net you more money. This means Cooking can be considered a good source of income once you’ve found the most efficient price-to-material recipe.

To start Cooking, all you have to do is visit The Renovator store in Lethe and afford the Kitchen Counter (2,000 Grilla) for your home. Afterward, crafting the Flour Mill and Juicers will unlock more ingredients and recipes. Again, quoting u/VertVentus after you unlocked the Kitchen Counter and Food Delivery at the Inn, you can turn in these four dishes for 7,000 Grilla:

Meal Recipe
Mountain Stir Fry Wild Leaf x1
Little Mushroom x1
Lethe Hamburger and Egg Meat x2
Egg x1
Little Mushroom x2
Lethe Breakfast Flour x1
Egg x1
Dress Lettuce x1
BBQ Churrasco Meat x2
Carrop x2
Cucumble x2
Little Mushroom x2

Meanwhile, these are the meal items that are the best bang for your buck (since they can be sold, eaten to recover Health and Stamina, or saved for Break Time with companions):

  • Picnic Sandwich:
    • Dress Lettuce x1
    • Flour x1
  • Lethe Vegetable Salad:
    • Dress Lettuce x1
    • Carrop x1
    • Unionion x1
  • Cucumble & Mince Sandwich:
    • Cucumble x1
    • Meat x1

Harvestella is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch.
