Hawkeye Disney Plus series

If you’ve been following the Avengers since the beginning, you know who Clint Barton is pretty well by now. The Avengers’ regular human archer, you’d think he would have a hard time keeping up with the rest of the super-powered gang. But as all fans know, that was never the case. This expert S.H.I.E.L.D. agent has stood his own against some of their greatest threats. There’s even a popular theory that the team can’t win without him. After so many appearances as a minor character, he’s finally taken the spotlight. Hawkeye has been granted his TV series on the new Disney+ Marvel section. Not only that, but it came with a double episode premiere today!

Hawkeye Makes His Disney+ Premiere in Time for Christmas

So, what is the plot focus of the Hawkeye TV series? Well, it’s simple really. Hawkeye just wants to get home to his family for the holidays. Clint Barton was always a family man in the MCU, putting them before work more than once. During the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, he’d retired from the team for that reason. Further, his family disappearing in The Snap was why he came back in Avengers: Endgame. Though Hawkeye is a simple man with simple plans, it won’t be that simple to do. His sordid past during Endgame’s five-year time skip has caught up with him. After taking to rogue vigilante justice out of madness, he’s seen taking down yakuza members as Ronin. It may have been awesome, but it certainly wasn’t heroic. Now, he’ll have to confront that side of him, as well as the dregs of Ronin.

Hailee Steinfeld Hawkeye Series

Rounding out the series of events for Hawkeye is his first mentorship! Yes, like Tony Stark and even Captain America, Hawkeye gets an apprentice of sorts. Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld), a fan of Hawkeye and hero hopeful, takes up a bow and quiver to help him out. This time it’s more of a direct sidekick set-up, with Hawkeye teaching her all of his archery ways and his different types of arrows. He even comedically refers to an arrow type as “too dangerous” before shooting off a bomb arrow like it’s nothing. Kate shares a sense of dry wit with Clint, so they get along great. Critics have claimed that the two help each other shine. Steinfeld’s general demeanor is the perfect mix of sarcasm and zeal that vibes with the Hawkeye character.

Though the two stars have just started working together, it’s sure to be an impressive display. There are even hopes for a Young Avengers crowd from Steinfeld herself. Hawkeye is streaming now on Disney+. Episodes are expected to drop weekly, though solo from now on. Are you looking forward to some holiday cheer and arrow shots clear? If you’ve seen the premiere, what are your impressions? Leave us a comment below!
